THE FRONT BOTTOMS (APPAREL)

The Front Bottoms is a New Jersey based indie rock band that I have worked with since 2016. Since I started working with band members Brian Sella [vocals, guitar], and Mat Uychich [drums] I have designed full lines of merchandise for three tours as well as a number of online exclusives, and limited edition designs. The bands emphasis on random subject matter and hand drawn designs make these projects something I always look forward to. Below are examples of a variety of designs although not all were ultimately printed.

CRYSTAL BALL T-SHIRT DESIGN (LIMITED EDITION)

Design is inspired by Madam Marie, a fortune teller on the Asbury Park Boardwalk. Her jeweled skeleton hands are holding a crystal ball with Convention Hall [an Asbury Park landmark] inside.

Champagne Jam 2018 Long Sleeve Design (Limited Edition)

Champagne Jam in an annual show hosted by TFB that takes place just before Christmas. This long sleeve was designed in addition to the annual Jam T-Shirt which can be found at the bottom of this page.

Vacation Town Rain Coat Design (Limited Edition)

This limited edition design was sold exclusively through the band’s merch store. After selling out within hours a second color way was released. On the front is a “locals only” helmet and goggles. The back of the design is a parked moped on the coast of a California beach lined by palm trees. The design was inspired by the band’s motorcycle club, T.F.B.M.C. and the song “Vacation Town” from their 2017 album Going Grey.

Lil’ Ripper T-Shirt Design

Mat and Brian inspired skeletons are hanging in the desert surrounded by flowering cacti, a guitar, and their dirt bike “lil’ ripper”. Drawn to give the effect of woodcut prints. Printed for their 2018 co-headline tour with Manchester Orchestra.

Party Animal T-Shirt Design

This cheetah relaxes on a floral couch reading “Vegan Mag” leaving evidence of his piñata massacre around him. Printed for their 2018 co-headline tour with Manchester Orchestra.

Rose Long Sleeve Shirt Design

Based on the first album in the Grandma Series EP’s. The album’s painting of Rose was turned into a drawing and then surrounded by roses and leopard drawings inspired by Rose’s sweater. Printed for their headline 2018 Grandma Series Tour.

Based on the second album in the Grandma Series EP’s. The album art was cut up and arranged with strips of the band’s name covering all of the characters eyes but one. Printed for their headline 2018 Grandma Series Tour.

Abstract Rain T-Shirt Design

Based on the single “Raining” from the 2017 album Going Grey this design was an abstract approach to the “Puddle” t-shirt. Printed as an online exclusive in conjunction with their headline 2017 Going Grey tour. This design also became the design for the stage backdrop and Mat’s drumhead.

Learning Zip-Up hoodie & T-Shirt Design

This design was a collaboration with a fan that drew the back design. I applied the color to the drawing and drew the front iPhone cable. Printed for their headline 2017 Going Grey tour.

Chubby Monsters Zip-Up Hoodie & T-Shirt Design

The band requested a “bunch of kiddie monsters” for this design which I then turned into a group of slightly melancholic, overweight monsters. Printed for their headline 2018 Going Grey tour. A member of the bands team now has a tattoo of the orange monster.

Joanie T-Shirt Design

For this design the band requested “a turtle with legs riding a giraffe on roller skates” which I combined copy-right free images to create what we referred to as "Joanie” a song from the bands 2016 album Needy When I’m Needy. Designed as an online exclusive in conjunction with the bands headline 2016 UK tour.

Mother Nature T-Shirt Design

During the 2017 holiday season the band put this design up as an online exclusive where the proceeds went to a woman’s shelter in Asbury Park, NJ.

Printed for the Summer 2016 UK support tour for Blink 182 and Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls.
