Leah GAe Press

In 2015, I started my own handmade business of hand bound books and original prints. I specialize in fabric covered coptic stitch sketchbooks, lined leather journals, silkscreen and letterpress prints. I have participated in over 50 markets, been featured in retail stores, and have a successful online store.

Being apart of the makers community

The makers community has introduced me to an incredible network of creatives that share the same passions I do. This endeavor has taught me incredible lessons that have not only helped me to grow as an entrepreneur but also as a creative. Owning my own business has been one of the most rewarding projects in my life.

Coptic Stitch Sketchbooks

Coptic Stitching is a book binding process where the chain link binding is exposed on the spine. My sketchbooks have 90lb blank drawing paper and lay flat when open which allows you to draw across both pages. Because of the waxed linen thread used during binding, the sketchbooks are durable enough to be thrown into a bag and used for traveling.

Genuine Leather Journals & Sketchbooks

My hand bound lined leather journals come in a variety of genuine leather covers. The more wear these journals endure the more character starts to show in the covers. The nicks and scratches in these journals add to the story one can only image is being written inside.

logo

My logo was inspired by my hand made business consisting of only one person: me! The single hand is accompanied by a book binders awl, the tool used to punch holes into paper, book board, and leather.

letterpress prints

I’ve been in love with the letterpress process since my time as an undergraduate at Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. I fell in love with the type’s imperfections caused by years of use. The scratches and dents in the type give my pieces an organic character only time can offer.

my sketchbook

This little guy is my travel journal/sketchbook. I toss it in my bag whenever I’m on the road and use it like a diary to jot down all of the things I’ve experienced.
